How to Dress up for a Sarkari Job Interview

Going for a new Sarkari job is always stressful. 

You have to find the place first of all, which can be a challenge in itself. In an effort not to be late you might arrive an hour early and sit in the car, trying not to look too keen. Or you are late, which is worse. You're worried about saying the right thing. You have a vague feeling of nausea. Luckily, of all the things to be nervous about before an interview, what you are wearing needn’t be one of them. That isn’t to say that you don’t need to think about it, but once you know what you’re doing, it’s pretty straight forward. The problem is that people over-complicate the situation. They agonies over every decision. What’s important is that you dress professionally. And in virtually every case, that means wearing a suit. This might sound obvious, but you’d be amazed how many people turn up to interviews in jeans or training shoes. Some people don’t even bother to wash. But if you don’t put effort into your appearance, the panel will think you aren’t taking the job seriously. And if you’re not taking it seriously, you won’t get the job. If you happen to be a woman, things are a little more complex, but again the safest option is a suit. You might get away with a skirt and a top, or even a dress, but the impression you give should be the same. You want to appear confident, elegant and businesslike. This means you have to make sure that what you wear isn’t too revealing. A plunging neck-line might work with certain employers, but those are probably the ones you don’t want to work for anyway. As far as colors go, stick with something classic. This means a black, navy blue or grey suit, and a pale shirt or blouse. Avoid bright, bold colors, and please, please don’t wear a novelty tie. There might be some exceptions to the rules, but only rarely. If you work in a design-based environment you might want to go for something a little edgier; something which makes a statement. An extremely casual interview may mean you barely dress up at all. The most important thing is that you never assume. If in any doubt, wear a suit. In the current market, getting a job is difficult enough. What you wear can mean the difference between success and failure. Of course, if all this is sounding like common sense, you’re ahead of the game. You have one less thing to worry about come interview day.
